Prof. Vijay Paul Sharma, Chairman

Professor Sharma is currently Chairman, Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India and is on deputation from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has served his first five-year term as Chairman, Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), Government of India from June 2016 to May 2021.

Prof. Sharma has held a number of important positions at IIMA including Chairman, Centre for Management in Agriculture for 5 years and Chairman, MBA in Food and Agribusiness Management for 4 years.

He is an eminent agribusiness management expert and policy maker with more than three decades of rich and diverse experience. He has been a consultant to many national and international organizations and deeply involved in agri-food policy formulation, analysis and advice. He was International Consultant, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), FAO Regional Office for Near East and North Africa, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Advisor to the “USAID’s Economic Reforms Projects in Central Asian Countries” in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Prof. Sharma has been a Member/Chairman of several national and State level Committees.

Prof. Sharma has about 10 books to his credit on Indian agriculture, besides numerous research papers in national and international journals, working papers, and lead/keynote papers in conferences.
